Replace roof on museum building
- Existing roof is old and leaking, replacement necessary to preserve building integrity and safeguard exhibits and office space
Construct a covered platform at the train loading area
- Would make it much easier for visitors waiting to board the train and replicate the historic platforms of the train stations in the past.
Finish the maintenance area and concrete floor in the train barn
- Will enable the volunteers to better perform all maintenance on the train equipment.
Install restrooms in the train barn
- Additional facilities will enable better service to all using this building.
Build more passenger coaches that can be used on either train
- As visitor numbers increase, additional coaches are necessary to carry more passengers on each train ride so that people do not have to wait in line as long during our peak event seasons.
Expand the education day during the Tracks to the Past event
- Trying to develop an expanded education day to bring in interested school groups to teach and show them about steam engines and railroad history.
Build and install new Kid’s Zone attractions/activities
- Complete the construction of additional mini-golf course holes and create a 9 hole mini golf course for visitor use.
Furture Projects Beyond 2023
Add more underground electrical on the museum grounds for outside displays
- This will eliminate running temporary power by making it safer and also saving volunteer time in set up of all the displays used at Pumpkin/Halloween season and North Pole Express season.
Track Expansion
- Lay additional train track to enlarge the riding area so that visitors have an enhanced riding experience in a longer trip.
Build a larger storage building
- The goal would be to eliminate temporary storage at our site and have a more secure permanent storage facility.
Erect a structure to house the antique sawmill
- Currently the sawmill does not have a permanent display space. A dedicated space is needed to provide visitors an opportunity to see the historic machinery operating as it did in the past.
Parking lot expansion
- As our admission numbers increase we will need additional parking to service visitors.
Full size rail cars restoration
- The goal is to be able to restore the large scale train cars we have on site. This includes a 1940’s era caboose that was used on the Norfolk & Western Railroad.
- Visitors would be able to tour and get a better understanding of history.
Hatton train depot restoration
- This historic train depot is currently on our museum grounds and was a part of the Toledo & Ohio Central Railroad. We would like to be able to finish a restoration and open it to the public as an extension of our museum.
Future expansion of programs
- Would eventually like to provide more programs to enhance our mission of teaching and preserving railroad history to individuals of all ages.
Expand our Halloween/Pumpkin Season displays
- As Halloween Express and Pumpkin Season have become much more popular, we have seen the numbers of visitors increase. Therefore, would like to expand those seasonal displays for the enjoyment of our patrons.
